| January 30, 2001 Hunt-Scanlon Forecast: Executive Recruiting Sector to Remain Strong as Companies Seek Proven Leadership in an Uncertain Economy But Don't Look for a Repeat of Last Year's Deals in Recruiting for Start-Up Chief Executives Stamford, CT, January 30, 2001 - After completing one of the hottest years on record for recruiting executive talent, the executive search industry is well positioned for a strong showing again in 2001, according to two reports to be released from recruiting industry research firm Hunt-Scanlon Advisors. "All of our trend lines continue to point upward," reports Hunt-Scanlon chief market strategist Brian P. Lee. "The services of executive recruiters who are able to identify and attract results-oriented leaders who can make an immediate impact remain in demand." According to data to be released from Executive Search 2001: State of the Industry Report, Hunt-Scanlon is forecasting another year of continued growth for executive recruiters nationwide. Hunt-Scanlon estimates the U.S. executive search industry grew close to 20 percent last year to an $8.3 billion industry. Mr. Lee believes that the softening economy will make it imperative for companies to become more selective in the talent they hire, especially at the senior levels. "The war for executive talent will continue even in a slowing economy," says Mr. Lee, "as companies look to their most seasoned staff as well as to veteran outsiders to help them weather an uncertain market environment and maintain growth." In addition to the Hunt-Scanlon market research report, Hunt-Scanlon editor-in-chief Lisa A. Sanders separately reports that despite a significant drop-off in the number of search assignments for dot-com clients, industry growth will continue to be fueled by demand from technology-based clients. Ms. Sanders findings can be found in the January issue of Hunt-Scanlon's monthly Executive Search Review newsletter as well as in her daily online Recruiting Industry Newswire reports.
