Long-Distance Corporate Board Meeting "Attendance" Up, Says SpencerStuart

Proof that directors of S&P 500 companies are increasingly adopting high-tech solutions to solve scheduling issues comes from the results of executive search firm SpencerStuart's 15th Annual Board of Directors study. One of the study's findings is that more than 40 percent (41 percent) of S&P 500 companies now allow directors to "attend" board meetings via videoconference, an increase of 13 percentage points over last' years 28 percent. Another interesting conclusion from the study: the number of women directors as a percentage of all directors has remained steady at 12 percent from last year to this year, as has the percentage of companies with at least one woman director (93 percent). Taken together, the two statistics indicate that most boards have not moved beyond recruiting one woman director.
