Whenever you are planning to travel internationally, you need to plan for every scenario, before you can make your trip. As a matter of fact, you may want to have everything ready, before you even finalize your travel plans. If you are heading to Hong Kong, there will be a few things unique to that region, that you may not be familiar with, so do due diligence to research and you can avoid being hit with culture shock. Not to mention, there is so much to do in Hong Kong, that you will want to make sure that you list everything and familiarize yourself with location, apparel to wear, entry cost etc.
When you are travelling internationally, there are plenty of hoops you will have to jump through. As an example, you will have to make sure that your passport is completely in order before even attempting to travel out of the country. Receiving a passport can take a bit of time and even if you complete your application and submit everything exactly as it should have been, you may still have a bit of red tape to get through. Another thing to remember, while not nearly as essential, is that other countries may not have products that you are used to, such as a specific brand of soap, or deodorant, even specific brands of food or bottled water etc. If you have specific needs, when it comes to these types of items, make sure to bring them along. I have friends that even pack a suitcase with their favorite snack foods and as it empties, during the trip, they fill it with their purchases found along the way.
Plenty to Do
Hong Kong has plenty to do for everyone,, but customizing a vacation that is specific to your desires will be something you will want to do before you go. For instance, you may want to visit the beaches of Discovery Bay in South Lantau Island to see why so many people flock there in the summer. You may be planning on visiting Hong Kong Disneyland, so perhaps you want to know when the best time of the year to visit will be. There is plenty to do in Hong Kong so make sure to get the most of your trip.
From researching attractions to applying for your passport, travelling to Hong Kong is going to take some planning. Once you see the beauty of Hong Kong, and learn the history of this charming island. It is a beautiful and mysterious place steeped in a long history and worth every single hoop you have to jump in order to get there.
Don’t judge a book by its cover, wise words in most cases, but sometimes it is a good rule of thumb to maybe not judge, but look closely at the cover. In the case of picking a hotel the cover is the hotel lobby and if it is underwhelming, you can pretty much guess that the guest rooms are not going to measure up to par either. The best four and five star hotels invest in their appearance. Things like the furniture, artwork and over all décor are all well thought out, in the best hotels. No one is saying that just by enjoying hotel art on the walls, you will also enjoy your stay but, you can pretty much assume that if the hotel puts effort in to the outward appearance, they also take that same approach with other aspects of their operation.
More than a Waiting Area
Beyond the appearance of the lobby, some hotels offer perks in their lobby area. Free Wi-Fi is becoming an expectation of many travelers and many hotels offer free internet access, in their lobby area, even before you check in for your stay. If you are working on your laptop in the lobby and you want a snack, you might just be in luck, because many hotels now have a full service food and beverage area. Taking it to another level, Las Vegas has long been the leader in the hotel lobby becoming more of an experience and less of a waiting area. In some Vegas hotels, the lobby in the main attraction or at least an interesting side attraction complete with casino games, but of course, it is Vegas.
Most hotels are a little more on the tame side, when it comes to the activities they offer in the lobby. Things like free espressos or other designer coffees are becoming common at hotel chains across the country. More and more hotels are re-imagining their lobby area as a gathering place, rather than a place to pass through on check in and check out. This idea is to entice people to leave their rooms and use the lobby as a congregating area. This means many hotel lobbies are starting to look more like living rooms and less like hotel lobbies.
When deciding to pick up and haul the entire family and all your relations to Costa Rica, for that rural family reunion adventure, remember to let everyone know that this is the tropics folks. What you pack can have a direct effect on just how much fun you can have together.
God Bless the Airlines in Their Infinite Wisdom
It would take too long to name all of the airlines that are now charging, not just extra for your second, but even charging for your first bag! To my knowledge, Southwest Airlines is the only airline that is still allowing you at least one free bag, in the baggage compartment. Considering that, the lighter you pack the less chance you will have of needing a large enough bag, for the baggage compartment, or going over the weight limit for that bag. Remember, when packing, that you’re going to return home with, more likely than not, a lot more than you left with from home. Souvenirs and other must-have items will be taking up room, that may not have been there before you traveled to Costa Rica. Some people pack an extra bag, which can flatten out for the trip there and be utilized to carry extras on the way back. Don’t forget that if you’re carrying it, it has to pass inspection.
There’s Plenty of Shopping in Costa Rica
If you forget to pack some of your favorite items there is no shortage of places to shop in this lovely island paradise. You can always take time out from your water adventures and volcanic tours, to take the entire family shopping. Here are just a few suggestions: handicrafts at Sarchi’s Taller Eloy Alfaro; Coffee Britt Chocolates are a huge deal already at the airport, but can be purchased throughout the city; fresh, tasty vegetables and fruit can be found in abundance, all over the place; San Jose’s Artesan Market; don’t worry if you lose your glasses, because you can pick some up at Cartago’s Supermas; if culture is your style there is art available from local artists, at Galeria Estudio, and finally Mercardo Artesania and Central in San Jose.
And don’t worry, there is always someone willing to sell you one-size-fits-all T-shirts and shorts. Sandals can be found nearby and sunscreen is always available, somewhere. Just because you forgot yours doesn’t mean that everyone else did, too. Whoops, did I mention packing a swimsuit? I’ll just bet you can buy one there!

When stressful situations arise, the solution to the problem is to take a mini vacation from the problem by getting away from your home or office for the day to re-evaluate the situation and approach with a fresh perspective. By taking a “mini-vacation” and taking more time for yourself, you will be able to make a more informed decision and save yourself the time, money and hassle of making a costly decision because, you didn’t take the time to evaluate it carefully.
Check Your Insurance Regularly
Before leaving your house on Monday for work, take the time to review your insurance and make sure that you have enough insurance for where you’re currently at in life. You should make sure that you have enough PPI, life, medical and auto insurance because insurance will be there to protect you during those times in life where you’re unable to work and you need it.
Take Care Of Your Body
As you grow older, don’t hesitate to take care of your body. Body maintenance is an important part of life especially as your life gets busier and due to trials at home or work you become more prone to stress.
Besides taking care of your body, it’s also important to take time for yourself by spending at least an hour or more per week doing something for yourself like going to the spa, gym or store to purchase something that you’ve been wanting for yourself. A little pampering each week won’t hurt you and it will also enable you to raise your self-esteem as well.
Assemble A Team
You don’t have to be in business for yourself to have a team, you can have your own team of trusted advisors, friends or relative that you will turn to when you need advice or help in time of need. For example: when you’re experiencing problems with taxes, it will pay off to have a friend or family member that you can call who is experienced in dealing with tax problems you can get the help that you nee instead of spending a lot of time searching for the answer to your problem on your own.

One of the best parts about traveling in Europe anytime of the year is visiting castles. If you haven’t visited a castle before, you owe it to yourself to travel to Europe, stay in one of the many holiday cottages in East Sussex and explore the iconic castles that the area has to offer.
This castle was built by 1388 by a gentleman of the name Sir. Edward Dalyngrygge and although he was a private citizen, Sir. Dalyngrygge was one of the first people in Europe to have a castle built for his own enjoyment. It features rectangular designs that will remind any historian of castles that were built during previous centuries in Europe and for a castle that was built for a private citizen, it’s not lacking on details, this castle features a huge, artificial lake, wooden bridge and island that’s fortified and was at one point prepared for attack.
Although Dalyngrygge loved his castle, it wasn’t built to withstand attacks from invaders and it was attacked twice in its history, once in 1484 and again in 1643. After the attack in 1643, Parliament ordered the castle to be dismantled and it stayed in a bad state of disrepair until the mid 1800’s when it was purchased by a private citizen and it’s restoration was begun and eventually finished in the 1920’s.
One of the most stately castles in England is Herstmonceux Castle; it was built in 1441 for Roger de Fennes, the treasurer for Henry VI and at first glance it fits the bill of what a castle should look like with it’s imposing towers, beautiful bridge and awesome lake.
Although it looks imposing, this castle has seen little to no military action over the years and that’s a good thing since its walls are too thin to withstand any military action.
Over the years it’s seen it’s high’s and lows, sadly, this castle almost didn’t make it through the 1700’s as area residents including Robert hare, a Reverend from a nearby church used it’s stoned to construct his new house.
Thanks to Sir. Claude Lowther, the castle was restored to its original grandeur and the blueprints were followed to insure that all of its details were recreated, as they were when it was first built.
